Welcoming a child is a gift from God and a responsibility you share as a family. Your wife is doing the work of carrying and giving birth to your baby. Your attention, encouragement, and practical help can make a difference in how supported she feels.

How can I help my wife prepare?
Start by asking what she hopes for and what helps her feel at ease. Listen before trying to solve every concern. Join conversations with Jenna if your wife would like, learn when to call, and talk about the practical things you can take off her plate.
Exodus is openly Christian. Jenna believes birth is part of God’s design and approaches caring for your wife and baby with gratitude and responsibility. Talk together about whether that is the kind of care your family wants.
How do we know if home birth fits this pregnancy?
Home birth is for low-risk pregnancies. Jenna reviews your wife’s health history and current pregnancy with her, then continues checking on mother and baby during visits and labor. If something needs a different kind of care, she will explain it.
The first call is a chance to ask questions, get to know Jenna, and understand how she works. Your wife’s choices and comfort remain central to her care.
Who will be with us at the birth?
Jenna plans to attend with a qualified birth team. Ask who is expected around your due date and how to contact her when labor starts. She can explain arrangements if another birth is happening or a team member is unavailable.
You can also talk about who your wife wants in the room, who will care for the children, and how to keep the household quiet and comfortable.
What does care cost?
The self-pay fee is $7,000, covering routine prenatal care, birth attendance within the practice’s care limits, the birth team, immediate mother-and-newborn care, and scheduled postpartum care through six weeks.
The $500 nonrefundable retainer at the first prenatal visit counts toward the total. Payments are then $400 per prenatal visit, with the balance due at 36 weeks 0 days. Some outside services and travel cost extra. Jenna will review the written financial agreement, including refunds and charges if care moves to another provider, with you before care begins.

What can I do during labor?
Ask your wife what is helping, follow her lead, and listen to Jenna’s guidance. Useful jobs include:
- Keeping phones charged and knowing when to call Jenna.
- Handling gates, pets, parking, and visitors.
- Arranging food, drinks, and household needs.
- Making sure someone is caring for children.
- Protecting your wife’s privacy and time to rest.
- Helping with the next steps if she or your baby needs additional care.
Your presence does not need to be complicated. Being calm, available, and attentive gives your wife room to focus on labor.
What if my wife or baby needs the hospital?
You are preparing to welcome your baby at home. If hospital care is needed, Jenna will tell you what concerns her and explain the recommendation. Emergency services are called when required. She shares relevant records and supports the handoff as circumstances and hospital policy allow.
Cesarean birth, epidurals, blood transfusion, and neonatal intensive care are hospital services. Exodus has no established backup physician, hospital privileges, or formal hospital partnership. Jenna will discuss safety with you one on one and explain what this means for your family’s specific needs.
How can I help after our baby arrives?
Plan for meals, laundry, children, and time for your wife to rest. Ask what she needs instead of assuming. Keep room in the day for breastfeeding and getting to know your baby. Jenna’s scheduled postpartum visits continue through six weeks, and she will explain how to contact her about care.
